TRADE NOTICE NO. 27/2003

 

 

Sub:- Nomination of IDBI Bank for payment of Central Excise and Service Tax Revenues -reg.

 

Attention of trade and industry is invited to Trade Notice No.11/2003 dated 23.05.2003 whereunder multi bank scheme was introduced for collection of the Central Excise and Service Tax levies.

 

For further convenience of the assesses and for greater competition and improvement in services, it has been decided with the approval of the Reserve Bank of India, Principal Chief Controller of Accounts and Central Board of Excise & Customs to authorize IDBI Bank’s branch located in Sector 16, Faridabad (Branch Code 0550083) to collect Central Excise duties and Service Tax from assessees within the jurisdiction of this Commissionerate in addition to the already nominated three public sector  banks, namely Punjab National Bank (6 branches), State Bank of India (4 branches) and Syndicate Bank (3 branches) located in Faridabad.

 

This authorization comes into effect from 15.11.2003.  The assessees will therefore have the choice of depositing their central Excise and Service Tax dues in the aforesaid branch of IDBI bank also.

 

The designated focal point branch of the nominated bank would also be the receiving branch for the collection of revenue for the Commissionerate.  The focal point branch will be responsible for submission of scrolls and challans to the Pay and Accounts Officer, C.R.Building,I.P.Estate, New Delhi and settlement of funds with the RBI(CAS), Nagpur through link cell at Nagpur.

 

The branch of the IDBI Bank which has now been authorized to collect Central Excise and Service Tax Revenues will have to follow the procedures laid down in the revised Memorandum of Instructions for Collection and Accounting of Central Excise Revenues.
